What is Bye Bye Plastic Bags?
Bye Bye Plastic Bags (BBPB) is an NGO driven by youth to get the people of Bali to say no to plastic bags. The campaign was launched in 2013 by founders and sisters, Melati and Isabel Wijsen. Since then, BBPB in Bali, has grown to include a volunteer team of 25 students from local and international schools around the island. By now, more than 50 BBPB Teams have formed around the world, making it a better place.
What does BBPB do?
The team has spent the last 5 years raising awareness about the waste problem in Bali through delivering school presentations and workshops, organizing beach clean-ups, providing 16,000+ alternative bags, working on creating a plastic bag free pilot village, lobbying with local and national governments and speaking at a variety of local and global events.
